Happy Monday everyone! How's it going? I am having such a relaxing day today as I have an extended four days weekend this week. I am going to make some cupcakes (yum!), go to a hot yoga class, and hang out with some of my friends. (Yes, I love keeping myself busy.) I have a couple of shows to attend this week and some LP reviews to complete :)- very exciting! Well, I hope you guys are having a good start of the week.
Discovered in one of online articles that I was reading this morning, I was pleased to listen to the XX's song, "Crystalised" covered by the electro-rock band, Gorillaz. (Click here to check out the article and watch the video) They did an amazing job to make the song even deeper and darker than its original version. While I was listening to the song, it occurred to me that there are a slew of recent good covers out there. So why don't I share some of the my favorites! Here is kanae's pick of the top 5 cover songs.
Top 5: Butch Walker- " You Belong with Me"
I have to sneak this one in at number 5 as I am a HUGE fun of Butch Walker as you know.
This cover of country queen, Taylor Swifts' hit tune, " You Belong with Me", can be so toe-tappingly cheerful.
Top 4: Lily Allen-Womanizer sits at number 4.
Who knew that Brittany Spears' "Womanizer" could be so jazzy when performed by English pop queen, Lily Allen.
She also has covered the Kooks' "Naive" and I have to say that I actually like her version better than its original one. So while it has not earned a spot in the top five, I believe it deserves a special mention. Check it out!
I will be sharing the Top 1-3 in the next post! Don't forget to check out the rest of the rankings!
